Simultaneous User Localization and Identification Using Leaky-Wave Antennas and Backscattering Communications

High-speed detection and identification of mobile terminals located in the vicinity highly directive base stations is essential for future mm-wave communication systems. We propose a novel optoelectronic frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar system detection, localization multiple terminals. The simultaneous achieved by using scanning leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) backscattering communications. LWAs provide RF-based beam steering estimating direction arrival echoes FMCW signal. Additionally, implementation technology allows users. Hence, user without use any complicated signal post-processing algorithms possible. Finally, introduced reflection shifts signals targets at higher frequencies, which exhibit lower noise floor thus have to ratio (SNR).
